Hillel

About our Tutoring Program

Hillel's new tutoring program connects Pittsburgh area college students who have shown an interest in tutoring with local students from elementary through high school age to provide tutoring in various subjects and levels.

Our tutoring program is also a great way to find a Homework Helper!

How it works...

Families
If you would like us to find a tutor for your child, please contact us with your child's grade level, tutoring needs, and your neighborhood. You will then be connected with a tutor who fits your child's needs.

College Students
If you have an interest in tutoring, please fill out the resume to be matched with a local student who needs your help!

Matching Process
Once a family requests a tutor, we will look through the resumes to find a tutor(s) that best fits the needs of the student. Families, we ask that you give us up to 72 hours after requesting a tutor to connect you with a tutor.

Hourly Rate

The Hillel JUC will not suggest or recommend hourly rates for tutoring. Families and tutors should discuss this once they are in contact with each other.

Meeting Places

Tutors and students can meet wherever it is most convenient for them, provided tutors are able to travel to specific locations. However, we are glad to provide tutors and students with a neutral meeting place. The Hillel JUC is a 3-story building located at 4607 Forbes Avenue. We have plenty of study space, a conference room with a white board, access to computers and printers (light printing only), and free popcorn and coffee.

Tutors may schedule a meeting space in our building Monday thru Thursday until 10pm. If you would like to meet at Hillel, we ask that the tutor e-mail tutoring@hilleljuc.org ahead of time in order to reserve a space.
