Student Highlight of the Month
Our student highlight of the month is... Our Jewish
Genetic Disease testing team. Shoshanah Rosen, of
Philadelphia, along with the
help of AEPhi sisters and the Hillel JUC social
justice committee brought in 187 students to be
tested for FREE for 9 Jewish genetic diseases on
Monday, Dec 4th. In this 1st year, the students
brought in more students to be tested that UPenn
(with a record of 182 after 3 years)! This program
was sponsored by the Victor Center for
Jewish Genetic Diseases at Albert Einstein Medical
Center in Philadelphia. This little known but
incredibly important testing brought awareness to
the entire campus community- Yashir Koach to the
women and men who made this happen!
Parent Event Review
Allentown parents gathered at the home of Marc and
Laurie Berson on Sunday, Dec 10th for a Hillel JUC
informational session. Thanks to everyone who was
there and we look forward to meeting many more of
you!
Send More than Birthday Wishes
It’s their special day and they are so far away-
more than a message you may want to relay. Instead
of a card, no need to work hard, just give us a call
and we’ll do it all!
Shabbat Birthday Bash: For your $100 gift to the
Hillel JUC your child will get a Shabbat Birthday
Bash including a cake, birthday decorations, and
happy birthday song at the Shabbat dinner that week.
Full Birthday Package: For your $180 gift your
child will receive the full birthday celebration
including a cake, card, and singing “happy birthday”
telegram delivered to their dorm on their big day.
To send a birthday package, email Laura Conrad.

| Student Program Review |

November was packed with incredible Jewish
opportunities on campus! The "Late Night Players"
comedy troupe caused an uproar at Pitt while the
CMU
Late Night
"Pajamarama" brought 200 students for movies, food,
music, and games, all in pajamas!
Elections for the Pitt Hillel board were the talk of
the town as David Streeter and
Justin Jacobs campaigned hard to be the next Hillel
board president. Get to know the new Pitt board:
President Justin Jacobs (of Philadelphia), Executive VP
Michelle Henritzy (of Philadelphia), VPs
of Finance Andrew Stesis (of Philadelphia) and
Rebecca Lehner (of Harrisburg), VP of Engagement
Deidra Dunhoff, VP of Marketing Matt Dorsch (of
Philadelphia), VP of Communications Perry Erlichman (of
Phildelphia), VP of Student Life Jesse Hervitz (of
Harrisburg).
Other highlights: Jewish cooking for men, an
evening with Donna Brazile,
senior political strategist and former Campaign
Manager for Gore-Lieberman, the sisterhood
committee continued their "Of Mind and Body" series,
and a "Get Lit" Hanukkah party. This incredible
month leaves high expectations for the spring semester!
