Cinema’s Exiles: From Hitler To Hollywood is a documentary film tracing the experiences of those exiles from Nazi Germany who took refuge in the United States and contributed to the development of the American film industry. The film examines the impact of these creative artists on both the German and American cinema. In her presentation, Professor Lucy Fischer (Director, Film Studies Department) will be the guest speaker and will address the broader theme introduced by the film.

Spoken Word Poet, Vanessa Hidary, chronicles her life as a New York Jewish teen coming of age during the Golden Age of Hip-Hop, and her dedication to fostering the understanding and friendship between people of all races. Her candid story is told with humor, and will remind any audience member of their own youthful journey through insecurities, love-gone-awry, and struggles with identity.  FREE with a student ID!

The Short Life of Hitler Youth, Paul B.
 
 
Through photographs, documents and ephemera, this exhibit depicts how the Nazi state seduced an entire generation of German youth. The exhibit examines the devastating impact of the nazification of Germany’s youth, focusing on the experiences of Paul Bayer, and demonstrates how totalitarian governments strip away basic human rights and use all of their citizens for their own agenda.
