End-of-Semester Events @ The Hillel Jewish University Center April 18, 2007

The academic year is nearing its end, and it has been an exciting, fun, and interesting experience filled with many smiles and wonderful memories. Yet, as we all know, life often presents a mix of the sweet and the sad, the happy and the heartbreaking.

The tragedy at Virginia Tech this past Monday has touched all of us in some way, and tonight, Wednesday, April 18, we will hold a solidarity vigil at 7pm @ the Hillel JUC.

The purpose of the vigil is to express our grief and shock at this horrific tragedy. This will be an opportunity to express our emotions and to send messages of support to the Virginia Tech survivors and sympathy to the friends and families of victims. Rachel Rosen, who is a licensed clinical social worker, will remain after the service to help facilitate a discussion for anyone who wishes to participate.

    The vigil will include:
    - Jewish prayers of mourning
    - Reading the name of each of the dead and lighting a candle for each one
    - Message board for students to post their thoughts and messages
    - Tzedaka opportunity in memory of the victims
    - Prayer of healing for the wounded

In light of the vigil, tonight's Hebreworld has been cancelled. If you would like to meet for the last Hebreworld of the semester next week, please contact Sahar.
