Come to the Hillel JUC one hour before Shabbat services every Friday and learn to read Hebrew! Sponsored by the National Jewish Outreach Program and run locally by the KESHER student group, this class is open to anyone who wants to read those "squiggles" on the page of the prayerbook or who can read some but wants a review.

After more than 2 years of design and production by CMU alumni (including the Israeli Executive Producer), the PeaceMaker game is available for online download here! PeaceMaker is a role-playing game with a high level view of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. The goal of the player as the leader is to establish a stable resolution to the conflict and win the Nobel Prize before his or her term in office ends. The difficulty level can range from calm to violent.

Few journalists understand from life
experience both the Israeli and Palestinian
sides: their languages, societies,
politicians, and motives. Remember that
today, Wednesday, Feb. 21, one of
these rare
journalists is coming to speak at CMU
(4:30pm in Adamson Wing - 136A Baker
Hall) and Pitt (8:30pm in Cathedral of
Learning - Room 232). A diverse coalition
of student groups led by Tartans for Israel
and Panthers for Israel invite you to come
hear Khaled Abu Toameh, an
award-winning, independent journalist who was
born in Tulkarem (in the West Bank) and has
covered Palestinian issues in the West Bank
and Gaza for over 20 years.
Toameh began his career writing for an
official Palestine Liberation Organization
(PLO) newspaper, while studying at Hebrew
University of Jerusalem. He is the Senior
Editor on Palestinian Affairs for The
Jerusalem Post and a frequent contributor
to BBC News, NBC News, US
News and World Report, and Danish

Summer Internships in Yiddish Studies Live
and learn Yiddish this summer! The National
Yiddish
Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts
announces an
outstanding 2007 internship opportunity for
college
students. The Steiner Internship Program is now
accepting applications for this eight-week summer
internship program. Eighteen students will be
accepted.
Study Yiddish language, literature and culture
intensively and work every day with the
Center's own
collection of 1.5 million Yiddish books. The
program runs from June 3-July 27, 2007; no prior
knowledge of Yiddish is required. Interns
receive a generous stipend and up to six college
credits, and apartment-style housing is
