| PeaceMaker is available! Can peace be far behind? |
After more than 2 years of design and production by CMU alumni (including the Israeli Executive Producer), the PeaceMaker game is available for online download here! PeaceMaker is a role-playing game with a high level view of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. The goal of the player as the leader is to establish a stable resolution to the conflict and win the Nobel Prize before his or her term in office ends. The difficulty level can range from calm to violent.
PeaceMaker is a finalist in Ashoka's "Changemakers" competition; it is number 11 out of 158 peace initiatives from around the world! The final stage in the competition is open for public voting, so opine here. And for more info go here.

Sunday, Feb. 18 Slavery still exists, and
Simon Deng is living proof. Escaping after a
childhood of slavery in Sudan, Simon Deng became a
leading activist to stop the genocide in Darfur.
Come listen to Deng as he shares his personal
experiences and discusses ways for students to stop
human rights abuses and genocide in Africa. Doors
open at 5:30pm and Deng will speak at 6pm in the
William Pitt Union Ballroom, with a reception
following his presentation. This program is
co-sponsored by the Hillel JUC, STAND: A Student
Anti-Genocide Coalition, the African Students

Summer Internships in Yiddish Studies Live
and learn Yiddish this summer! The National Yiddish
Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts announces an
outstanding 2007 internship opportunity for college
students. The Steiner Internship Program is now
accepting applications for this eight-week summer
internship program. Eighteen students will be
accepted.
Study Yiddish language, literature and culture
intensively and work every day with the Center's own
collection of 1.5 million Yiddish books. The
program runs from June 3-July 27, 2007; no prior
knowledge of Yiddish is required. Interns
receive a generous stipend and up to six college
credits, and apartment-style housing is provided. Go
