    Teaching and Leadership Opportunities
    Temple Sinai, a Reform synagogue in Squirrel Hill, is looking for an experienced song leader, preferably with guitar skills, and people interested in teaching Sunday school K-7 and Hebrew. For more info contact Debbie.

    Adat Shalom, a Conservative synagogue in suburban Pittsburgh, seeks instructors for its religious school (Tuesdays 4:15-6:15pm fourth grade, Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm ninth grade), and also a youth advisor for a high school age youth group. For more info contact Yaier.

    Monday, October 9th Tartans for Israel are hosting 3 special guests from Israel @ Heart and then showing Operation Thunderbolt at this week's meeting, 7:30pm in MMCH 103 Breed Hall (first floor of Maggie Mo). The 3 Israeli guests, all in their 20s, include a native Ethiopian and graphic design student, a woman who worked with the foreign press through the IDF Spokesperson's Unit during the war with Lebanon, and an ambitious high-tech entrepreneur. Following the discussion with the Israelis, enjoy the thrilling, acclaimed Israeli film, Operation Thunderbolt, about the most famous hostage rescue in history: Israel’s 1976 operation in Uganda.     Winter in Israel for ONLY $180 - Choose Your Track!

    Hillel International is delighted to offer its premier Winter Israel Experiences this December and January. This season, Hillel is sending three exciting tracks, and each will last approximately 10 days and cost $180 per student. While requirements for each track vary, all participants must have had prior Israel experience.

    The track dates are:
    Jewish Pluralism and Peoplehood: December 26th-January 4th
    Green: Israel and Global Environmentalism: December 25th-January 3rd
    Leading Up North - Tzedek (Social Justice): December 25th-January 4th or January 1st-11th

    Thursday, October 19th Join the University Lecture Series, Tartans for Israel, and The Hillel JUC as we cosponsor The War in Lebanon: Win, Lose, or Draw - A Reporter's Perspective. Veteran journalist Elli Wohlgelernter, television reporter for IBA (Israel Broadcasting Authority) English News in Jerusalem, will offer an inside look at the war he covered, and where the political process goes from here. An extended question-and-answer session will follow the lecture. 4:30pm in 136A Baker Hall @ CMU. For more info contact Sahar.

    Elli Wohlgelernter has previously worked as an editor at Haaretz and The Jerusalem Post. Prior to moving to Israel in 1991, Wohlgelernter was Managing Editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and worked for major print and television news organizations on both US coasts.

    Tuesday, October 31st Join the Jewish Studies Program and the Film Studies Department at Pitt as they bring you The Journey of Vaan Nguyen, with a special appearance by the film's Israeli director, Duki Dror. Dror explores the experiences of a Vietnamese family that found refuge in Israel after the fall of Saigon and the family's recent efforts to return to its homeland. 4pm in Cathedral of Learning G13.
