Panthers for Israel

Panthers for Israel is a student Zionist organization dedicated to educating the Pitt community about Israel. Panthers for Israel provides a wide array of cultural and political programs that are open to all students, faculty and staff at Pitt.

Session: Middle East

Session: Middle East is an organization designed to engage young people to tackle conflicts in non-violent and diplomatic ways. This is an entirely student-initiated and student-run organization. The mission is to find innovative ways to approach the Arab-Israeli conflict in ways that humanize rather than brusquely ignore “the other.” This is done through documentary viewings, cultural events, panel discussions, speakers, and an annual forum. The organization’s region of focus is the Middle East, but the methods used can be universally applied.

STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition

The local chapter of STAND is part of a growing national network of student activists who use political means, speakers, presentations, and letter-writing to end genocides around the world, with a particular focus on Darfur. Pitt’s chapter of STAND was co-founded by two Jewish students, and many of the group’s leaders and members are Jewish.
